Why Start the New Year with Bible Verses?
Declaring God’s word over your life will bring the focus of your year into God’s hands.
So many times, the New Year’s goals are about quitting something, changing this or that. Truthfully, I have several goals that I am working on right now. But speaking God’s word over my life is the most important one I will do all year.
It’s inviting God to have your year and believing in a promise God has given.
The spiritual significance of declaring God’s word.
One of the most significant examples of the power of the Bible is in Matthew 4. Jesus was being tested and tempted by the enemy. His response was, “It is written.”
So if Jesus fought the enemy with the word of God, then one of the best things we can do all year is declare the word of God over our lives and for those we love.
Connecting faith with goal-setting and scriptures.
I wrote an article about setting spiritual goals. You can check it out here: How to set New Year’s Goals as a Christian.
Connecting faith with goal setting and scriptures. Find the promises from God in the Bible and declare them over your life. What is one verse that you believe will be a promise for the year one you can pray and declare over your life.
Here is my personal example.
This year, I am praying this over my life, business, family, and relationships. It’s from James 3:17-18.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.
Every week, I will pray over my life this verse. And remember, when I hear something from others, that wisdom from God will have these characteristics.
One of my goals is to have more wisdom in my life and career.
So this verse is so important for my New Year’s goals.
This is how you connect your goals and your faith.
Verses to inspire you through the New Year.
Lies there are so many lies in the world we live in, and sometimes it’s hard to know the truth.
But when you have a truth like “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
When a challenge happens, you can know that in all things, God will use it for good in your life. This verse inspires me ever time I read it. Knowing that all the hardships that happen in life, God can and will use for good.
Declaring this truth over your year can push the lies out of your mind.
Here are 20 Bible verses to inspire you to declare over your life this year. Pick one or choose them all.

Every morning God has a new beginning for us. I like to think of it like a new white piece of paper that God is going to help us write a story about in our lives. So if yesterday or last year your life felt like a disaster remember that God has a new beginning for you.

Inspiring Bible Verses to Stay Motivated in the New Year

- Colossians 3:23 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…”

Keep doing what is right no matter if every one around you is doing the wrong thing.
Lately, I have been lied about and slandered. People took time to call others out of state to lie about me. It was also someone very close. Someone I helped, giving a lot of time, love and finances too. I was faced with a choice. Start making phone calls and set the record straight, send them messages of the truth and what really happened or release it in Gods hands.
When all of this happened I remembered countless Bible verses I’d memorized. Verses like Galatians 6:9 and Psalm 41:1-2. I let God have all the lies and accusations.
Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble.
The Lord protects and preserves them-they are counted among the blessed in the land—
he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
If you are facing something similar let these verses inspire you to pursue God.
Even though I invested time to someone who slandered me my reward comes from God and not that person.
Just knowing that once we accept Christ we are new. If we had bad tendencies, gossip, criticism all that is gone if we want to follow Jesus.
