I have traveled the world for work, missions, and some fun. I’ve been on more flights than I can count, and sometimes that’s just on one trip.
But here are some top items for packing light and looking great and stylish.
The first thing you need to do for packing light and looking great is to get a good carry-on bag—luggage matters.
I remember when I traveled to Eastern Europe with a team. One of the members took a military-grade duffle bag. Not only was it the worst memory for her, but also for the entire team.
She struggled with that duffle bag so much that everyone took pity on her and had their battle with it as we trekked through multiple airports and countries, dragging it around.
Then, there was the ultimate nightmare of airport security. I have no idea how that insanely large bag made it through, but it did. It might have been because she didn’t speak Russian, and they wanted the line to keep moving.
So please learn from our mistakes with the duffle and get a decent carry-on with spinner wheels. There is no better time than now to find good luggage.

Some even have USB ports to charge your phone.
Then, you can get the charger with an upgrade with a cup holder.
BAGSMART Carry On Luggage Turquoise
Luggage Pink from Bagsmart
Amazon Basics Expandable Hardside Carry-On
LUGGEX Carry On Luggage (Front pocket and USB port)
If you are not shuffling around a huge bag during travel, trust me, you will look and feel better when you arrive. I cannot express enough the need for good luggage. I have been on hundreds of trips and used all types of luggage, and bad, falling-apart luggage can be a real pain.
It can also be rough when you don’t have a carry-on with extra clothes.
Travel Tip: Take at least one extra outfit in your carry-on.
I used to check my bag, and life was going pretty great, but then my bags got lost. They were very lost, and I was a day’s drive from the airport in the middle of winter, so the bags were in no hurry.
I only had clothes on me. So I had to go shopping for at least a new outfit. At that time, I was a size 8, and the town I was in had clothes up to size 6. That was the largest size. WHAT?
So I got one pair of jeans two sizes smaller than I was and a sweater that was one size too small. I had to wear that outfit for days while the clothes I arrived in were air-dried.
So please always take a carry-on and at least one change of clothes.
The next in packing light and looking great is shoes,
Sneakers
SOMILISS Store on Amazon
I always take closed-toed shoes on trips, no matter where I am going. If you’re going out of the country, trust me on this: You will need closed-toed shoes.
Sneakers look great and have become a classic trend in recent years. They are also great for walking long distances on mission trips and travel destinations.
Here are some of my top picks.
Plus, flip-flops or slides
Adidas Adult Adilette Aqua Slides
Although I always have a pair of sneakers on all my trips, I also take slides and have them in my carry-on. I especially do this when I am on mission trips. Some countries require shoes that are easy to put on and take off, so here are some to consider.
When you are packing light and looking great, you want to wear a,
Jacket or blazer

Jackets are a great style and can serve many functions. If you are cold, it will keep you warm and help you look stylish.
Here is the link to the blazer.
So I always take a jacket or a blazer on travel days to look put together.
The great thing about a blazer is it can elevate a T-shirt and pants very easily.
Classic Jewelry
One of my favorite jewelry brands is Pavoi, which is available on Amazon.
Pavoi makes affordable, sustainable jewelry in classic styles. I have personally worn their products for years. This brand is better than the high-end fashionable jewelry I have bought. It’s my favorite brand on Amazon.
Crossbody Bag
Higher price point-Micheal Koss
This bag is a must for me, and a backpack is almost always a no unless I am going hiking, on an adventure trip, or on an extreme mission trip, where I will have to hike into the location.
Why? Because backpacks are easy targets for thieves.
You can put crossbody bags in front of you, and I have never had anyone get my bag when I have used one.
A word of wisdom: If you go to Europe and see women on public transportation holding their bags as if they’re newborn babies, you should do the same. That generally means there are a lot of pickpockets.
It’s easier if you are wearing a crossbody bag. Here are a few from Amazon.
